Discernment is vital for the spiritual well-being of our lives. In a world filled with diverse voices and competing influences, the ability to discern truth from error becomes spiritually critical for navigating life's complexities and making choices aligned with gospel principles.
The scriptures teach, "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14). Discernment involves seeking the guidance of the Holy Ghost and aligning our choices with the teachings of the Savior.
President Dallin H. Oaks emphasized the importance of discernment, "We need to be cautious with our curiosity and not be deceived into thinking we need to witness or experience everything in order to be well-informed." We can 'know' the truthfulness of something through the gift of discernment without having to personally experience it in order to 'know' it.
May we culitivate discernment to be a divine guide for our lives, leading to wise choices, spiritual insights, and deeper connections with the divine.
